The Camp Code of Conduct is created to ensure that camp is fun and safe for all campers and staff. This document outlines the rights and responsibilities of staff, campers, and parents/guardians. All parties are required to abide by these rules and fulfill their responsibilities while participating in GOOSE programs. The GOOSE Code of Conduct, along with all other policies, align with Trent University’s policies and are understood and upheld by all GOOSE and Trent staff. Respect
First, all GOOSE staff and campers are required to act out of respect for themselves, each other, and the environment.
1. Respect for yourself: At camp we strive for an environment that fosters self respect, esteem, and personal development. This means that campers are asked to take care of their mental and physical well-being at camp, if they feel they need support they should reach out to their instructors, counsellors, program coordinators and/or guardians.
2. Respect for the environment: Campers and staff must respect the environment and property both on and off campus while attending camp. Under no circumstances are campers permitted to:
• Engage in any type of vandalism or damage to any property on or off
campus.
• “Deface” (carve, paint, etc.) any on or off campus property.
• Tamper with any safety devices including but not limited to smoke alarms, fire extinguishers or medical devices.
3. Respect for others: At camp, all participants are required to act out of respect towards all campers, staff, and guests. Disrespectful behaviour that is not in accordance with the Code of Conduct will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action. Disrespectful behaviour includes:
• Bullying; teasing; harassment; swearing; acts of aggression; pranks;
practical jokes; stealing; invasion of personal space; racist, homophobic, or otherwise discriminatory actions; any act that intentionally makes someone else uncomfortable.
• When off campus, campers are representing themselves and GOOSE
camp, this means that behaviour that does not follow the “Camper Code of Conduct” will not be tolerated.
Camper’s Rights and Responsibilities:
1. Campers have the right to participate in activities that are provided in an environment that is safe, inclusive, and caring.
2. Campers will be responsible for being respectful towards all people in and out of camp settings.
3. Campers will have the right and responsibility to actively participate in camp activities and classes if they are comfortable in doing so.
4. Campers have the responsibility of abiding by the “Camper Code of Conduct” and all camp rules and procedures.
5. Campers have the responsibility of communicating with GOOSE camp staff when they leave Champlain College or designated GOOSE Camp Spaces.
6. Campers have the responsibility to manage their time wisely so that they are not late to their scheduled activities.
7. Campers have the responsibility to listen to counsellors, instructors, and programming staff, and follow all instructions promptly.
8. Campers have the right to ask questions and be treated with respect by GOOSE staff.
Unacceptable Behaviours
• Violence of any kind;
• Being Discourteous or Disrespectful of others
• Intolerance of others’ individuality
• Damaging Property
• Damaging the Environment
• Use of Drugs and/or Alcohol or Cigarettes
Parent/Guardian’s Rights and Responsibilities:
1. Parents/Guardians have the responsibility to ensure their camper understands the “Camp Code of Conduct”.
2. Parents/Guardians have the responsibility to ensure their camper is equipped and prepared for camp before arrival based on the welcome package they received.
3. Parents/Guardians have the responsibility to provide the camp staff with all necessary information about their camper to ensure they are successful at camp and their camper’s needs are met.
4. Parents/Guardians have the responsibility of paying for any unexpected damages that their camper has caused.
5. Parents/Guardians are responsible for providing transportation home from camp in the event that this Code of Conduct is violated, and GOOSE staff determine the camper is to be sent home.
6. Parents/Guardians have the right to be informed of any disciplinary action taken in relation to their camper at the discretion of GOOSE staff.
Parent/Guardian expectations for GOOSE camp:
1. Parent/Guardians can expect that GOOSE camp staff will be competent and capable in all areas regarding the safety of campers.
2. Parent/Guardians can expect that camp staff will create programming that is safe and inclusive for all campers.
3. Parent/Guardians can expect that camp staff will uphold the “Camp Code of Conduct”
Consequences and Disciplinary Action
Failure to abide by the Camp Code of Conduct could result in a range of logical consequences such as conversations with camp staff, loss of privileges, or in extreme cases, dismissal from the GOOSE program. Consequences and disciplinary action will be implemented at the discretion of GOOSE staff. Parents/guardians will be informed of disciplinary action and will be involved in the process if necessary.

Trent University Conference and Hospitality Services seek to provide each guest in our residences with a comfortable and enjoyable environment which will allow for the best possible conditions for
everyone. Operating as a hotel during the spring and summer months, certain standards of behavior are expected from our guests. This Code of Conduct reflects the minimum expectations.
Quiet Hours: To minimize the disturbance of other guests, quiet hours are between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. Music is not to be played at an unreasonable level at any hour. Noise levels of any kind should never rise to a point that is audible in neighboring rooms, in the corridors, or in the common areas of the building.
Cleanliness: Each guest is responsible for their rental unit. Guests are to respect the fact that items in the common areas, such as food and beverages found in the refrigerator, may belong to other guests. Upon departure, guests are responsible for removing ALL personal food items from the common area. Please keep the common areas in a clean and appropriate manner. Guest rooms are cleaned at the end of each stay. Additional towels, toilet paper etc. are available at the front desk.
Damages: Each guest is solely responsible for any damages and loss of University property caused by his/her actions or neglect. All charges for damages and loss of University property will be itemized by room number and/or guest name and sent to guest for payment. Theft of any kind will not be tolerated. Furniture and other items must not be removed from the units and are to remain intact at all times.
Fire: Each guest is responsible for taking note of emergency escape routes in case of a fire alarm. All guests are expected to evacuate the building in a timely manner should there be a fire alarm. Tampering with fire and emergency equipment will not only result in immediate expulsion from residence but could also result in criminal charges laid by the City of Peterborough.
Supervision: GOOSE will provide “adequate adult supervision” at a ratio of no less than one adult per ten youth.
Bikes: Bike racks are provided for the guests use at various locations on campus. We urge you to provide a secure and strong lock for your bike. We are not responsible for your personal property.
Lost Keys/access cards: Lost keys/access cards pose a significant security risk to our resident students. If a key is lost, in order to ensure the safety of students living in residence, we must change the complete lock-set; therefore, a $130.00 fee is charged to the guest upon checkout to cover the cost of these changes if the key is not returned. If the key is returned within 48 hours the charge will be rebated. If an access card is lost, a $10.00 replacement cost will be charged. All keys must be returned to the Conference Office, or designated checkout area, where guests will be asked to verify the return of their key by initialing the registration card before a guest’s departure.
Pets: Pets are not permitted in the building with the exception of service animals.
Other: Cleats, rollerblades and scooters are not permitted in the halls and common areas of the building.
DRINKING ALCOHOL, SMOKING AND USING DRUGS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED THROUGHOUT THE CAMP SESSION.

I hereby give Trent University and the corresponding agencies, its assignees, licensees and legal representatives the irrevocable right to use my child's name/ photograph/ image/ audio recording/video recording/ and likeness (“my child's image”) in all forms and manner including but not limited to publication on Internet Web Sites, broadcasts and any other publications as released to or by Trent University and the corresponding agencies. I understand that Trent University cannot control unauthorized use of my child's image by persons not associated with Trent University and corresponding agencies, once my child's image has been published. I hereby forever waive any right to inspect or approve any publication of my child's image by Trent University and the corresponding agencies. I have carefully reviewed and understand the above provisions and agree to be bound by them. I voluntarily and irrevocably give my consent and agree to this Release and Waiver.
The information on this form is collected under the authority of the Trent University Act, 1963 Section 18 (3) (c) and is needed to obtain your consent for the use of your photograph/image/audio recording. The information will be used by the Marketing & Communications Office only for the purpose of verifying that proper consent has been provided. Consent to Disclose Personal Information
Pursuant to the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) As a supportive learning environment, Trent University is interested in providing the best possible learning experience to its students. In order to assist you we are asking for your written permission to obtain clinical information from a third party and/or share all or part of the information from your file at one of the departments within the Trent Student Wellness Centre (Health, Counselling, or Disability).
By completing and submitting this consent form, you are giving us permission to collect and/or share your child's personal, medical, emotional and behavioral information with GOOSE staff and delegates, corresponding agencies and its delegates and other departments at Trent University.
This consent will automatically expire one week after the camp is over.
I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper listed above) consent to have personal information, i.e. medical records, lab results, specialist reports, formulation, diagnoses, psychiatric consultation, progress, at- tendance, etc. shared with medical professionals, Trent staff, GOOSE staff, etc. at the discretion of GOOSE staff.

 

Parent/Guardian Authorization for Health Care
I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper listed above) give permission to the GOOSE Camp staff to (1) provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries; and (2) seek further treatment from local physicians or hospitals if the medical condition warrants. In the event I cannot be reached in an emergency, I also give permission to the treating physician to examine, diagnose, treat or secure proper treatment for the Participant and hospitalize. I also give permission to the treating physician to order injection and/or anesthesia and/or surgery for the Participant, as the physician shall determine proper and necessary under the circumstances. I agree to assume full financial responsibility for the costs of any evacuation and/or medical treatment that the Participant may receive that is not covered under the health insurance that was provided. A photocopy of this consent shall be as valid and may be ac- accepted as the original. I certify that I have completed all sections of this Health Form and accept full responsibility for any errors or omissions. The Participant has permission to take part in all program activities except as noted above. I understand the information on this form will be shared on a “need to know” basis with Trent University staff and or any health professional as required.
I understand that no refunds will be given to participants sent home due to illness, unless otherwise specified under the “Refunds and Withdrawals” section of the “GOOSE Terms and Conditions”, and that it is my responsibility to pick up the participant upon arrival to his/her final destination. I understand that GOOSE Camp Staff will communicate with me prior to making such a decision.

 By signing this form I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper named above) waive certain legal rights, including the right to sue, or claim compensation following an accident. Please read carefully.

Assumption of Risk

I am aware that participating in the Summer Camp activities has inherent risks, including but not limited to:
• Terrain: any manner of injury resulting from falls on wet, icy, slippery, or uneven terrain;
• Weather: Any illness or injury resulting from exposure to cold, wet or windy weather, or the effects of heat and strong sunlight;
• Equipment: Any manner of injury, including death, resulting from the use, misuse, non-use and failure of equipment;
• Environmental hazards: any manner of injury, including death, resulting from allergies, illness or exposure to hazardous substances;
• Other Hazards: All manner of injury arising from falling and impacting against the floor surface, fence, bleachers, benches, apparatus/equipment or the ground; impacting with other
participants, referees, or equipment; making contact with trees, rocks, goal posts, sprinkler heads or other obstructions; entanglement or impairment on obstructions; an increased load on the heart, which may result in dizziness, shortness of breath and in extreme circumstances, may result in a heart attack; potential for bone and muscular skeletal injury, such as sprains and strains, dislocation or fracture, episodes of light headedness, fainting, chest discomfort, leg cramps and nausea;
• Negligence or criminal acts of others;
• Loss, damage, injury, illness, death or expense that I may, or that members of my household(s) may suffer, including the contraction of a Communicable Disease as a result of my participation in this Activity. Communicable Diseases include, but are not limited to, any disease that can be transmitted from one person to another including viruses, bacteria, parasites or other organisms.

By signing this form I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper named above) freely accept and fully assume all suck risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, property
damage or loss, pertaining to GOOSE CAMP.

Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, and Indemnity Agreement

In consideration of Trent University allowing me to participate in GOOSE CAMP, and other good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency and receipt of which is irrevocably acknowledged, I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper named above) agree as follows:

1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may have in the future against Trent University, its governors, officers, employees, students, agents, volunteers and independent contractors (all of whom are hereinafter collectively referred to as the Releasees);
2. TO RELEASE THE RELEASEES from any liability for any loss, damage, death, injury or expense that I may suffer, or that my next of kin may suffer, as a result of my participation in GOOSE CAMP.
3. This agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives in the event of my death or incapacity.

 In entering into this Agreement, I am not relying upon any oral or written representations or statements made by the Releasees other than what is set forth in this Agreement.

LIMITED TO, NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE, INCLUDING FAILURE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD OR PROTECT ME FROM THE RISKS, DANGERS AND HAZARDS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITIES REFERRED TO ABOVE.

I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper named above) have read and understood this agreement and I am aware that by signing this agreement I am waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue, which I or my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns may have against the releasees.

This agreement must be completed in full, signed, dated, and witnessed before the participant may start the activities in GOOSE CAMP.

Parental Consent Form

Consent for Treatment

I (the Parent/Guardian of the camper named above) hereby give my consent to have the above applicant treated by emergency medical personnel, a physician, or surgeon, in case of sudden illness or injury while participating in the above activity. It is understood that Trent university will provide medical insurance for such treatment.

Permission to participate in outdoor and water activities

I hereby certify that I, parent/guardian with legal responsibility for this participant of minority age, do consent and agree to his/her participation in all recreational outdoor and water activities organized by GOOSE Camp staff.

Permission to participate in off-campus trips

I hereby certify that I, parent/guardian with legal responsibility for this participant of minority age, do consent and agree to his/her release for all off-campus trips including Canada's Wonderland and Niagara Falls.
